Snappy Fashions Giveaway & News

May 8, 2010 · by: Cathie Filian

We have a winner!!
Toni from pinkstar

I’ll be posting another giveaway later today!!!

Pick up a copy at your local Barnes and Noble or
get it shipped to you from Barnes and Noble or Amazon.

Thanks Thanks Thanks!

Big hugs and crafty kisses to all the moms and soon-to-be moms who have sent me letters about my new book. I truly appreciate your kind words. I had so much fun writing and designing this book. The little snapsuits were the perfect canvas and babies are the perfect muse.

New Mom (or mom to be) Gift Idea!

If you know a new mom or have a friend who is expecting, head on over to your local Barnes and Noble and grab a copy of the book! They are selling like hot cakes on Sunday morning. In fact, I am super excited to report that 101 Snappy Fashions is already going into a second printing!

Flickr Fans!

I have been getting lots of emails with pictures of snapsuits and toddler tees created from the book. I love seeing all the pictures so much and I want to be able to share them with everyone, so I set up a Flickr group where you can post all your creations. This is my first group to start, so I hope I did it right. wink wink.

Mother’s Day Giveaway!

Mother’s Day is tomorrow and to celebrate I am giving away a prize pack of snapsuits, embellishing goodies and a a signed copy of 101 Snappy Fashions! This giveaway ends Wednesday, May 12th so enter today!!

The business stuff….

All items are provided by me (Cathie Filian) and are in accordance with the Blogher Rules.

To enter: Simply leave a comment to THIS specific post by telling me if you have ever altered a baby snapsuit or if you have any babies on the way! 🙂

Your comment MUST link to your particular blog or web site or include your e-mail address. Otherwise, I won’t be able to get in touch with you if you win! Any entries that do not include
some way of getting in touch will be disqualified.

Deadline: Comments must be received by midnight EST May 12, 2010.
Odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Other rules:
1. You must have a mailing address in the United States of America (sorry international folks!).
2. Only one entry comment per person.

How it works: Each comment will be assigned a sequential number. The winning
number will be selected from a random number generator, so there will be no
favorites, simply a game of chance.

I have altered many baby snap suits. I have become enamored with applique. Right now, I make things for my niece and my friends children, but I am hoping my own babies will be in the very near future, but they are not on the way yet. Best to be prepared, though. 😉

Creating onesies for my expecting sister-in-law was too fun.

Using some of my graphic design skills, I played with some vector graphics and fonts to come up with printable iron-on transfers for plain white onesies. One had cute little chicks in four gender-neutral colors with “My Peeps!” across it. Another had a stroller in grungy green that read, “That’s how I roll.”

A not-so-good pic of the onesies can be seen at my website (as well as a free downloadable):

    http://pinkstar.org/2010/05/project-reveal-1-baby-box/

Along with other handmade and store-bought items for my SIL’s baby box 😀

The best part about baby crafts? Everything is TINY!! Love it.

hi cathie! i decorated onesies for my oldest son nearly 7 years ago – i used cute baby appliques and ironed/sewed them on. since i didn’t know if i was having a boy or girl at the time, i decorated them so that either could wear them. last year i had twins – a boy and a girl – and they inherited the Boy’s onesies. and i was tickled that the lady bug onesie (the only one the boy didn’t wear but i made anyway cos it was so cute!) could finally be worn!

SUPER PRIZE! I just altered a onsie for my 8 month old and a tshirt for my 1 1/2 year old for them to wear on easter.. its kind of like your “junior prom” one… I put a bowtie, dress shirt ruffles, and buttons on the little one, and a regular tie applique and dress shirt ruffles on the bigger one. I used red bandana fabric (because I had some scraps to use up) so I call them the “redneck dress shirts”
