A red wine spritzer is a simple, refreshing drink made by mixing red wine with a carbonated beverage—usually sparkling water, soda water, or sometimes a citrus soda. It’s lighter, lower in alcohol, and more refreshing than straight wine.
Basic idea:
- Red wine (any kind you like, often something fruity like Merlot or Pinot Noir)
- Sparkling water or soda
- Ice (optional but common)
- Optional garnish like citrus slices or berries
Typical ratio:
- About 2 parts wine to 1 part sparkling water (but you can adjust to taste)
You can think of it as the red wine version of a lighter cocktail—easy to make, customizable, and not too heavy.
Ingredients:
2 c. frozen berries, any variety
1 bottle, 750 ml, dry red table wine
1 qt. seltzer water

1. Fill large pitcher with the frozen berries and dry red wine; let stand 30 minutes.
2. Pour wine from the pitcher into wine glasses approximately halfway up the glass. Scoop a few berries into glasses.
3. Top off glasses with seltzer just prior to serving.
