Bow Wow WOW! Giveaway!

August 27, 2010 · by: Cathie Filian

Bow Wow WOW!
(click the link to see inside the book at Barnes and Noble)

Here is a giveaway for
all you love to dress
your pups in
Halloween costumes!

Oct 31st will be here before we know it and the time to get stitching is soon. I’ll be giving away a few copies during September and October so if you don’t win the first time check back for future giveaways!

How do you enter?

Just leave a comment. Tell me about your dog. Tell me about a dog costume you have made or bought. Tell me your dogs name. Tell me anything about the last thing you made! Just leave a comment. Contest runs till Friday Sept. 3rd, 2010.

Bow Wow WOW! is loaded with ideas, step-by-step instructions and inspiration for making your own doggy fashions and costumes. This book features 36 different looks you can make from 2 basic patterns. You will also find tons of accessories and some no sew costumes.

This is the Pirate costume from the Bad to the Bone chapter. I love how his hat turned out!

Did you know that Bow Wow WOW! was featured in Rachael Ray?

Here is an Elvis version the editorial team at RR made. They followed the simple instructions found in the book.

Deadline: Comments must be received by midnight September 3, 2010. Odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Other rules:
1. You must have a mailing address in the United States of America (sorry international folks!).
2. Only one entry comment per person.

How it works: Each comment will be assigned a sequential number. The winning number will be selected from a random number generator, so there will be no favorites, simply a game of chance.

I love the doggies in costume. I have 4 cairn terriers (totos) and would love to dress them up like characters from the Wizard of Oz. How funny would that be Totos as Dorothy and gang! I love reading about all your projects, watching you on etsy chat and stalking you on Facebook!

Our family currently has an Alaskan Husky named Karma who we rescued wihle living in Alaska. When we brought her home she was smaller than the cat and now she is 65 lbs! My girls love to play dressup and poor Karma is a good sport but would probably like to have something of her own to wear! I know my girls would love making things for her! Thanks for the chance to win!

My one eyed rescue Pekingese is named Blitzkrieg. Yes, after The Ramones song Blitzkrieg Bop. He was abused and we thought he needed a tough guy name. It took 3 years to rehabilitate him into the confident goofball he is now. We give back to the rescue community that helped us with Blitzkrieg by attending local events and telling his story, including the charity Halloween pet parade. I dressed him up as Balloon Boy. He didn’t win a prize for his costume but he got his photo taken, which he likes just as much as getting treats for being such a good doggie model!

My Jack Russell Terrier, Millie, has been a pig, an armadillo, and a pumpkin! All crocheted outfits. She loves dressing up and posing for the camera! When I say “Millie, come and try this on!”, she comes immediately and stretches out her neck for me to put the outfit on her!I’ll post pics on my facebook page. http://facebook.com/shelle.hendrix

Cathie…we have the cutest dog ever! Peso…a pure bred Boston Terrier that is not only smart but handsome! My daughter was just saying she wanted to make him a “taco” costume for Halloween. Last year he wore a witches cape and hat. We think given he’s true name is Parker’s Red Hot Peso…the taco is a bit more fitting..or a red hot dollar candy…or hey a pepper too!lol Thanks for the chance to win! 😉

Our 12 year old Boxer Macy just lost her best friend, our other Boxer Chipper, last month to cardiomyopathy. We used to dress them up in devil and angel outfits so that the trick or treaters could see them when we answered the door. Now that he is gone and our son will be 15 months old for Halloween, it would be great to dress her in something new to go trick or treating in this year.

I have three pugs. Our black pug,Java, is a devil so we dressed him in red horns with a red cape. Our girl pug, Olive, she’s as cute as a cupcake, so we put her in a cupcake sweater. Our other boy, Fosse, hates to wear anything on his body or head. We did manage to get a pumpkin head part on his head for about three seconds. The pumpkin head part mouth is where the dogs head goes, so it looks like the pumpkin is eating the dog.

My friend sent me this link…I’m sure you can imagine why. My dogs (two Westies – Maddie & Abby) have a different costume each year. Except for the first year I had both, they are always twins. I think my favorite costume was maddie’s when she was wonderwomen!! Though Abby did make a super cute ballerina when she was a puppy! I am crafty but can’t sew to save my life so I buy their costumes each year – usually at the end of the season for the next year. I’d LOVE a copy of your book!!!

I have two dogs- Laney and Slade. For the past 6 years at least one of them has placed first in the fall costume contest in our old town. We’ve made everything from a john deere tractor costume to a lamb costume.

Now that we’ve moved to a much bigger city we might need to step our game up some to be winners this year. 🙂

We have an adorable boxer named Sid Vicious that we rescued from a local shelter four years ago. He is the most amazing animal & we love to say that HE ended up rescuing US! For his first Halloween, he was Spongebob Squarepants & went trick or treating with our son in the neighborhood…it was sooooo cute! The only thing Sid doesn’t do is hats, but other than that he is up for anything…as long as he can give lots of kisses while it’s happening! He is such a blessing from God! Hugs & thanks for the chance! (crystalbeshear@yahoo.ca)

It’s such a fun way to create a custom pattern on any denim clothing. I’m doing a jean jacket, but you do you….this works with jeans cut off whatever you want. for the appliqué I’m cutting out a design from a thrift shop hoodie and I use some iron on webbing just to secure that in place and then I sewed around the design with the machine, but you could of course just do a little hand stitch as well. I love how this turned out and I love making DIY looks for myself and the girls.

DIY Purse Chains and Charms from Toys! I made this DIY Purse Chains and Charms from Toys! I made this for a special table-read visit to Bob’s Burgers! 🎉 wWhen I got invited… I knew I had to craft something to wear! I got the Louise doll at Five Below!

These purse charms are easy to make with small toys. A few tips!

Use beading wire and not stretchy cord. This helps with durability.

When drilling toys, use a drillbit that is slightly smaller than your eye screw. Add a drop of clue if you would like to have a little extra security.

I like to add jump rings to the ends of my chains, so I can easily take them on and off purses.
